Music and Learning

Music is a big part of everything we do and it's an integral part of our literacy program.  We use all kinds of music-children's artists, popular tunes, "oldies but goodies", showtunes, just to name a few.  We open and close the day singing and dancing together-along with a large part of the time in between.  One of my favorite things to do is to take some of the music we use and create class books or murals to accompany the lyrics.  Creating something together builds our school family while helping us incorporate even more literacy opportunities into our classroom.   Music is also a multi-level way to teach other concepts across the curriculum.  And it's fun!!!
