In our classroom we have book tubs all over the room labeled according to author or genre.  It takes up some space but the books are so accessible to the children (and teacher!) and I've seen so much more interest in reading since there's so many materials so easily available.  These are some of the labels I use-I print them, mount them on cardstock, laminate, and attach to book basket with masking or packaging tape.  I use tubs bought from Dollar Tree which are about a foot and a half long and a foot wide-each tub holds at least 20 books, some have close to 50.  There are approximately 30 tubs that are available all year long.  If we are doing a particular unit, I bring that tub to our Gathering Area where it's most visible and accessible.  Thanks to my dear friend Sarah Simpson who convinced me to get the books off the shelf and out in the room!!

These are the basic labels-I hope to add more!  Some have two sets of labels because I have too many books for one basket-I keep the baskets color coded, especially if there's more than one.
Email me if you have suggestions for other baskets!
